Equipment Used for Tear-out:

We have a skid steer with a hydraulic breaker attachment that we use to tear many of the concrete slabs apart. For smaller concrete areas, we also have hand-held breakers and saws. Whether you need a large driveway or a small sidewalk torn out, we have the tools to get the job done quickly and correctly. For smaller jobs and tight areas we use the standard jack hammer for concrete removal.

Tear-out vs. Resurfacing:

We are frequently asked if we can resurface a concrete slab rather than tearing it out and replacing it. When deciding which is ideal for your situation, there are a few things to consider. A slab that has been resurfaced and is under 2 inches thick will chip, crack and deteriorate. Also, if a slab has large cracks (more than 1/4" wide), structural issues need to be addressed under your concrete. To prevent future problems, usually, more base is regraded and compacted. If you resurface over these cracks, the ground will continue to shift, and the cracks will translate to the resurfaced areas.

Resurfacing may be a good option for you if you are willing to add 2 inches to your current slab, and removal may not be necessary.

Tear-out Safety Concerns:

When tearing out a slab of concrete, we take all necessary precautions. Most jobs do not require a soil sample, but we may send a sample to a geotechnical engineer on larger projects. When you hire Tri-City Concrete LLC to remove your concrete, you can rest assured that we will follow all safety precautions.
